Quitch is a quiz app for schools that keeps learners engaged outside of class time. Over a little more than two months with an app focus, my work split in two: the performance of the backend and the groundwork for the coming redesign.
Backend under load
For over two months I put the backend endpoints under sustained load with Gatling, to find where the system buckled. The bottlenecks that surfaced turned into concrete database and code optimizations that made the backend more robust.
Groundwork for the next release
In parallel I improved the existing app while the team prepared the next big release with a reworked UI and UX. For that I worked closely with UI and UX design: implementing designs, giving feedback, and styling the standard Ionic components to match the design specs, the foundation for the later look. I implemented the login flow end to end on the UI side, thinking through the details that matter in daily use: how the design behaves when the keyboard appears, error states, and button placement.
